This a beautiful rendition of David Teniers The Younger, Flemish artist (1610-1690), The Card Players. It was painted in the 1700's by an Italian artist named D'Alessandro who did a masterful job of recreating David Teniers work.
We believe the frame was made by another Italian artist Salvatore Rosa. The painting and frame date to the 1700's. It is solid wood with a layer of gesso that was added at the time to smooth out the grains of the wood.
The painting is in great condition, no repairs noted. It has been well cared for over the years. It does have stable craquelure which is indicative of age. Just a masterful piece of work.
The painting is in excellent condition with age related craquelure. The frame has some scuffs and a few chips to the gesso, but is intact.
Framed: 26 3/8" x 34 3/8"
Painting: 19 5/8" x 27 3/8"
