For your consideration is an exceptional, authentic matching pair of antique 19th-century French Classical Old Paris Porcelain (Vieux Paris) cabinet vases, circa 1880.
DESIGN & DETAILS:
Each vase features a stunning, rich matte black ground that beautifully contrasts with a vibrant, hand-painted central vignette of classical cherubs/putti walking through lush green foliage. Delicate gilded gold accents trim the rims, necks, and bases. The artwork has a beautiful gloss overglaze. Examination under a 10x jeweler's loupe confirms raised enamel paint layers and zero mechanical transfer matrix printing dots—these are completely painted by hand.
MARKINGS:
Consistent with roughly 70% of genuine mid-to-late 19th-century Vieux Paris production, these pieces are entirely unmarked on the bases, featuring the correct raw, unglazed bottom firing rings.
APPROXIMATE DIMENSIONS:
- Height: 5 5/8"
- Diameter: 3 5/8"
CONDITION REPORT:
Both vases are structurally sound with NO chips, NO cracks, and NO restorations. True to their age and antique nature, there are a few light surface scratches on the matte black finish (please refer closely to the detail photos for exact placement). The gold gilt shows very minimal wear. A beautiful, intact antique pair ready for display or collection.
